SLIGO LAUNCHES THE WELCOME AMBASSADORS PROGRAMME
Sligo is set to welcome an exciting new initiative designed to create a positive and inviting atmosphere for visitors and residents alike.
Scheduled to launch at the end of July, the Sligo Welcome Ambassadors programme is a town centre volunteer project, sponsored by Sligo BID after securing a successful funding application to the Department of Justice. This project recognizes the importance of enhancing the overall experience of visitors to our town and nurturing a sense of community pride.
The Welcome Ambassadors will be primarily responsible for making Sligo the friendliest place to be and are dedicated to ensuring a memorable experience for all who visit our lovely town. Our teams will be armed with flip-flops, first aid kits, and kindness and will engage with visitors, provide help where needed and share their extensive knowledge about Sligo’s rich history, vibrant culture, and exciting attractions.
The Department of Justice has been instrumental in supporting the Sligo Welcome Ambassadors programme, recognising its potential to contribute to the local community and foster a spirit of inclusivity. Sligo Purple Flag, a prestigious award given to towns that offer a safe, vibrant, and inclusive nightlife experience, acknowledges the programme as a vital component in enhancing Sligo’s nightlife atmosphere. Sligo BID, a key stakeholder in the economic development of our town, recognizes the program’s potential to attract more visitors and contribute positively to the local economy.
