For the month of February, Sligo County Council and Sligo Business Improvement District have drawn another lucky winner for the Sligo Car Parking Raffle. Designed to promote and identify the shopping options in Sligo Town, the competition runs monthly.
Pictured here being presented with their annual free parking permit by Sligo BID board member and local restaurateur Brid Torrades of Osta Cafe, this permit gives them complimentary parking in any of the all day public car parks located in Sligo Town for the next 12 months.
As feedback from locals, tourists and commuters is that parking is often concentrated in the high density areas such as Wine St Car Park and Stephen Street, the Sligo Car Parking Raffle is a joint venture between Sligo County Council and Sligo Business Improvement District to promote and raise awareness of the 4000 car parking spaces available locally; public, private and off-street. The promotion of alternative parking options is designed to ease congestion during peak times and promote a greater amount of commerce in the town centre.
Each month a new winner will be chosen from those who have entered the raffle. Raffle entry boxes are available at Bistro Bianconi, WB’s Coffee House, Mullaney Brothers, The Wine Buff, Osta Café & Wine Bar, Armin Lowe and Son Jewellers Ltd, Action, Alfie’s The Barber Shop, Tech Express/ Sound Computers, Sligo Supply Centre, Salon 2, Carraig Donn, Lyons Café, Tohers the Chemist, Barton Smith Sports, Conway’s Newsagents, Heart’s Desire and The Blind Tiger. Entries do not roll over month to month, however anyone is able to enter the raffle each month as many times as they wish.
