Thomas Connolly Sligo

There has been a pub here since 1780, opening onto Holborn Street. The Markievicz Road end was originally living quarters. First licensed in 1861, the pub came about during a time of plentiful maritime trade; deliveries of rope, linen and tea came into Sligo on ships from Europe.

There was once a grocer’s shop at one end of the pub – popular for making sugar, selling tea and bottling whiskey. Highlights of the pub’s storied past include a visit from Charles Stewart Parnell, plus Thomas Connolly himself becoming Mayor of Sligo in 1890. These days, we’re best known for our warm welcome, our famous pint of stout, regular live music and relaxing atmosphere.

In the pub there’s an ever growing range of over 80 premium Irish whiskeys and scotch. Our premium gin collection also continues to grow with over 20 unique flavours to choose from. For the craft beer drinker, we specialize in Irish craft beers with many on rotational tap and a handpicked range by bottle. We have a range of European red, white, rose & prosecco wines by the glass or the bottle. We believe in choice and so gluten-free and nonalcoholic drinks are well stocked. We’ll also happily prepare a fresh ground or specialty coffee of your choice.

We can offer visitors a tailored live music experience, a unique tasting experience from our craft beer, premium Irish whiskey & premium gin products. We can also do a group Irish coffee tasting experience. Come join us and experience our unique heritage
